I'd like to make a plug for this, which I usually don't do, but. Erin's a 29-year-old woman who's suffering from two painful neurological disorders, but according to Medicaid in her state, she's still able to work (which she can't)--and because she doesn't have children and isn't pregnant, she doesn't qualify. On top of this, she doesn't have medical insurance, and can't pay for the multiple brain surgeries that she needs in order to save her life. The appeal process to get Medicaid takes months to years, and she might be dead before she wins her case.

So, she came up with Project Download. Basically, if a paid account on Megaupload gets 5 million downloads, the owner of the account gets $10,000. She'd get enough money to put down a deposit for the surgery she desperately needs. The only catches is that you can only have one download per IP address per day and that fraud/manipulation can't be used in order to alter the number of downloads.

You just have to download a text file once a day to help save her life. Since she seems extremely legit, I thought I'd plug her Livejournal community and her website, where you can sign up for daily e-mail reminders to click the link!
