I'm sad to say that Donatello didn't make it.

The fin rot on his anal fin was mostly gone, but during a water change, I broke his tank. I stuck him in a slightly over one gallon hospital tank, and he seemed to not quite enjoy it, but was doing otherwise fine. Two days later, I finally had time to get him a new tank, and brought it home. But it was too late...

That same day, something really upset him and he shredded his tail. Except shredded doesn't quite describe it--it was literally the third of the length it was previously, with much of that length dead, and shredded bits of fin were everywhere. The bits of fin caused a bacterial bloom that was too much for his always been weak immune system, and by the time I got home....

He had full blown dropsy, pineconing, gasping for breath, the works, and it was obvious he'd be dead by morning. After finally finding the clove oil at GNC, I was able to put him asleep. He fought the clove oil for a moment, but settled when I placed his stuffed fox plush next to him. Don was still laying there calmly when I finally dosed him with vodka.

Thank you everyone for the help (especially to [livejournal.com profile] kittencuffs for answering my frantic PMs). The treatments I was told to give him really helped improve his last few weeks of life. It really sucks that he had to go that way, but at least he didn't suffer for that long.

I'm really sorry. I know how much you loved him. :(

Hey stranger. I'm actually not sure if I told you about this guy. Magus died last year at about 3-4 years of age.

Don was a good fish. Always sickly, though. Got him after he was a party favor, and he never quite recovered from it.

That makes more sense. I didn't think that'd been the name of your fish but we haven't talked in such a long time, I assumed I was remembering incorrectly. Especially because you mentioned the stuffed fox and I know Magus loved the fox, as well.

I'm sorry that you lost both of them. I'm sure you cared about Donatello as much as you cared about Magus, and I know how you loved him!

The fox is now Raphaella's. ... who is sadly becoming enamored with it already. She does happy circles just for him. For some reason, bettas love him. Don would sit next to it like Magus did. And we really do need to catch up sometime.

Thank you--I did. Although we really started to bond only in the last couple of months.

We do need to catch up sometime! I have a new AIM, in case you didn't know. It's RailroadBaron729, which, incidentally, is what I'm considering changing my LJ name to.

This is me being too lazy to sign out of an RP account. I'll try to talk to you tonight or tomorrow.

Sounds good.

Do you have Firefox? You could get that add-on that lets you be signed in to multiple accounts at once. It's for all the RPers on LJ, of which there are apparently a bamillion.

Unfortunately, LJlogin does not work through work's firewall. ;) I've tried.

Well, you're just lame, then, madam.

I should have assumed you knew about LJlogin, though, since you are the Tech Goddess.

No, zscaler is!

And you know what they say about assuming... But I love it very much.

The pity about assuming is that I, the assumer, make an ass out of both myself and you, the innocent victim of my assumptions.

Oh well, I'm sure you deserved it.

I am now a donkey's bottom. Thanks....

I deserve it, huh?

No, you could be anybody's bottom: I didn't say you were an ass's ass.

I assume so. :P

Could I be an asshole's ass, then?

:| Thanks. Really.

Aww, fishy D:

I've always been impressed at the level of care you've given your fish. I'm sure he led a very happy fishy life :3

RP account but:

I try to give them the best care I can. Thank you--I didn't have him as long as Magus, but he seemed fairly happy.

Also I posted this to my journal instead of a community, but oh well. I really should start getting back into updating.
