In response to this, especially the last paragraph:

If your main/only reason for voting against same-sex marriage is religious beliefs--specifically that marriage is between a man and a woman--you are, in fact, violating the first Amendment to the Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Religion should have nothing to do with a Civil marriage. If you don't want a same-sex couple marrying in your church, fine. Couples can take their money elsewhere.

*A* YOU TELL'EM.

Sadly if you ask many of these people who are protecting the 'sanctity' of marriage (as if 'sanctity' has any place in a court of earthly law fffrofl) about whether the Constitution is SET IN STONE or leaves wriggle room, you will probably find a lot of them clinging to the former. CONTRADICTION MUCH.

AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAA -- Too bad, Gov'!

The legislature overrode the veto!

Now I can get married in FOUR states, and recognized in FIVE.

Just not my own -- YET.

Awesome! It sounded like they would.

And really, it's only a matter of time for your state, too. :| Mine's going to be one of the last ones.

My reasoning for disallowing same-sex marriage has nothing to do with religion, and is based completely in logic. Matter of fact, I find that a lot of people could benefit from leaving some passion at the door when going into a debate about this. But you knew that. ;)

See, I'd actually be interested in knowing your reasoning for that. Because all I ever hear is the religious point of view, and that's what gets me all up in arms more than anything (separation of church and state--they need better reasons to be against it than religion!). Understanding both points of view and all.

But that's probably something you wouldn't want to discuss on this entry, and in someplace more private. XD; (I'd also promise in advance not to get mad. Really!)

Yeah, I should probably buckle down and blog about it. Truth be told, I just get tired. But if I care (and I do) I should get over the tired and speak my piece. So soonish hopefully ;)

I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it. I can get pretty passionate about the subject, but that's mostly in response to people who just blindly accept what they're told. It's different when you rationalize your opinion.
