Sushiiiiiiii
Dec. 31st, 2005 03:34 pmXD Just made Sushi with Mom since I finally got the last of the ingredients two nights ago with my brother. It's not too terribly hard to make, it's just... involved. And having someone who knew how to cook well was a good start. The slices on the end wouldn't stay together so I had to 'unfortunately' eat them early and they actually taste very good.
We made reverse California Rolls. Well, sorta. We used salmon instead of crab and Mom cooked that since she refuses to serve raw fish this day and age. They clean it well in Japan and the like, so I'm sure raw fish is okay there but here I wouldn't touch it except in high class restaurants that do quality control. Still, I got to eat the rice we didn't use out of the bowl and mixed it with the salmon, which was actually pretty damn good even then. They never used the sushi vinegar at the DXpress but it makes a major difference!
Found all the stuff we needed, for the most part, at two stores: Williama Sonoma Marketplace and Le Gourmet Chef. I'll make a more detailed post later after I get back from the store. We're still making Mom's killer roast beef wraps.
