Robber Nabbed After Locking Keys in Car

LAKE STATION, Ind. (AP) - A 26-year-old man locked his keys in his car while robbing a convenience store across the street from a police station, authorities said.

Dan L. Griggs, of Gary, stole three cartons of cigarettes about 1 a.m. Thursday from a store across the street from the Lake Station police department, and returned to his vehicle to find the doors locked, police Lt. Mike Stills said.

Wow. I am not sure what to make of this one. Most of the time when you see stupid criminals they just make one dumb move (like the genius who while stealing alcohol showed his ID to the clerk to prove he was 21) but this one just has so many idiotic moves.

1) Across from a police station!? Is that the only convenience store in all of Lake Station?
2) Locking the keys in the car was pretty bad.
3) He only wanted three cartons of cigarettes? No money? Food? Nothing else?
