RAZR Phone
Dec. 30th, 2006 08:22 pmIt's the weekend, and I have a new cell phone needing to be tested.
Except I have no idea who to call.
Er.
P.S.: Must be in the USA. Free weekends most likely don't extend to international calls.
Edit: Also. Dad got a computer upgrade, so his old parts go towards my desktop... except my current power supply isn't powerful enough to run his/my processor. Upgrade's on hold until I can get one. Mouuuu.

Date: 2006-12-31 06:32 am (UTC)I have the regular gray one--although I want to get a clear case to protect it.
So far, I really like it. People complain about the width/length (not the depth) since it's wider/longer than most phones, but I actually like that. It fits nice and snug into my pocket.
Depending on what provider you have, it's pretty customizable. (Verizon wounds their phones.) I'm going to test it more before hacking it. >.0 I'm really hoping I can fix the volume issue with hacking, or I'll have to consider taking this thing back. It does sound really good, though... just far away from my ears. (Most people complain about it being too quiet, so this probably wouldn't be an issue for you....)
It has room for MicroSD memory (and has 30 meg of on-phone storage) and connects through one of the MicroUSB cables (so no special $30+ dollar cable--we already had one!).
Hmm, the camera wears the battery out fast? I want to see if that's the case on mine then, too. The camera is nice (1.3 megapixels--good for a phone!), and that, too, has a lot of options.
It also plays mp3s and midis, and I haven't checked to see what video codecs it can play yet. I'm still looking at the sound issue, mostly.
I'm curious to see how the phone acts during an extended call--specifically, if it likes to heat up just like my old phone did. Then again, that phone was a LG phone, and we've had 4/6 die on us from that company. So far my bother's Motorola (which isn't a RAZR) has survived a year with him, so we factored that in when we bought the Motorola RAZR.
I haven't really had a chance to see how the cell phone's signal strength is, but that'll get a more extensive test soon enough...
(And yeaaaah, I researched this puppy before buying it. XD Can you tell?)
Also, it's not the first version, so a lot of the old bugs have been worked out. Always wait with new consoles, phones, etc, until they get a chance to do that. Just don't drop this baby--I've heard horror stories about that.
