Is this worth an official complaint?

For those of you who don't know, I go to Virginia Tech. And I was in the building next door when it happened and we saw the SWAT team assembling along the back of Norris.

The first day back is supposed to be a relaxed discussion about what happened and about how the rest of the semester will be handled.

So what does the teacher whose class I was in when thirty people were murdered do?

Fucking teaches. The entire damn time. Through the university wide moment of silence. (Although he might not've--I left early to attend the event. But knowing him, he did.) And I know at least one student in that class lost people he knew.

God damn you. Damn you to hell. You've been a bastard all semester, but this takes the fucking cake.

Edit: I should probably add that since I'm taking my current A, I don't have to worry about the take-home exam that he's giving out Wednesday, due Friday. WTF, we just got back, it's barely been a week. God, I think he just really doesn't get it.

... Although I think he lost points for having the worst English I've ever seen from a foreign graduate student/professor. I mean, geez. He speaks it just fine, so if he just looked over homework, or even used *spellcheck*....

I agree, a complaint is necessary. In a stressful time, disrespect and assholishness is not conducive to a healthy environment.

I would complain too, however I would check with someone who was still in the class first to see if he really was still teaching during the minute silence, just in case he stopped during it, or anything.

Yeah, I do want to make sure that he did stop teaching before I complain.

Then again... I don't have to deal with him anymore, really. With the grade options we have, I can take the A I have right now and keep it.

But still. I don't want him to get in major trouble. Just maybe.. y'know, have the gravity explained to him. Or something.

Good good, also maybe just take the A and get out of there, I mean I'm sure you've got enough stress as it is from other classes or if you're getting finals soon, if he's just gonna bother you, it's not worth attending his class I think.

Hopefully he can get the idea, I mean I'm guessing he must be pretty arrogant?

I did take the A, but I'm still going to attend class, just because some of the new material he might teach might be necessary for next semester.

... and actually, I don't think he's arrogant. Just a social dunce. He doesn't seem to understand the feelings/emotions others might be dealing with right now.

I skipped Wednesday, and I think I'm going to skip Friday, too. Just because he handed out the Test Wednesday and is collecting it on Friday. Better safe than sorry.

I'd say someone who works as hard as you deserves it :)

If you can get away with it, just go for it and keep skipping I say, I don't think that teacher is worth your time to be honest

my hunch is that it was his (feeble) attempt to coax you all back to normalcy, to say that "life will go on". but i'd say he did it rather too soon. o_O

btw, i had a hunch you studied there but refused to believe it hoping you didn't have to experience like that when i think something similar tho not as grave as this happened last year... then it turns out, you do go there. my condolences if you lost anyone who was close to you, and my prayers to the ones who are still recuperating and i hope you'll all get through all this.

Yeaaah, way too soon. And we're getting a take-home test Wednesday that's due Friday. I'm just glad that I can take the A I have now and not bother with his stupidity anymore. At least he let me take the first test during the day, considering my ADHD meds would've worn off by the time it was scheduled for at night....

*Hugs* And thank you. I didn't lose anyone close, but one of my classmates in the class before it happened was killed. It's... This class and the 8am classes are probably the hardest ones to go back to. A couple of my friends did lose friends, though. And I know a couple of my professors from my current and previous semesters lost collegues. But we're hanging in there.
