Sasuke never lived in an apartment.

Sasuke's room when his family was still alive:
Chapter 402, page 1, bottom panel: Overall view of his childhood room. Note the bookcase, bed, TV, TV cabinet, the slope of the wall/ceiling, and the size of the window.
Chapter 223, page 16, top right panel: Another overall view of his childhood room. Note everything as previous.
Chapter 223, page 02, bottom frame: Note the bed.
Chapter 223, page 03, top panel and middle right panel: Note the ceiling (especially the light) and the bookcase.

Another part of Sasuke's house to note:
Chapter 220, page 15, top right panel: Note the double door.
Chapter 220, page 16, bottom right panel: Again, note the double door.
Chapter 233, page 10, middle left panel: The outside of said door, proving it goes directly to the outside.



Sasuke's "apartment" when he's twelve:
Chapter 181, page 04, top right panel: Note the bookcase, bed, TV, TV cabinet, the slope of the wall/ceiling, the size of the window, the ceiling, and the double door that he closes as he leaves.


They. Are. The. Same. Minus obvious improvements/remodeling to his room, the general cleaning up in his room, the new window, etc. Which means that Kishimoto has had these subtle clues planted for a very long while in the manga. I was wondering why in the hell an apartment would have a double door and now I have my answer. Lol, Sasuke became a real neat freak, didn't he?


So, the question is: did Sasuke decide himself to stay in his old room/house (which is pretty fucked up if that's what his decision was), or did the elders decide to continue segregating the one last member of the Uchiha clan (even though he obviously had nothing to do with the attempted coup)? If so, no wonder why Itachi was worried.

Considering this, it makes it even easier for me to believe that Naruto was completely left to defend for himself for the most part.

OH! You did it! I don't know why it ever became a thing in fandom that he lived in an apartment and not his home, but this definitely makes more sense for me! I love it. This actually makes his story a lot sadder for some reason. The fact that he was still living in his old house...all alone. That must have sucked...

Yeah, there's a lot more discussion about it the chuunin post (http://community.livejournal.com/chuunin/4655406.html) I made about it. =\ It could've been either the elders or Sasuke that kept him living there. And we're not sure if it's his house or another very much like it.

But, either way, he lived in the compound all alone. Definitely very sucky.
