The Pope's still alive, so why are all the news stations talking about him like he's already dead? Even if one bodily system after another of his is failing, he's still alive. Even if death is imminent, he's still not dead.

.... It's just bad taste.

It's the conservative media's typical plan to latch on to one thing after another. You'll recall that when Clinton was having his bypass, FOX was the 'rise and fall of Bill' channel. Last week it was the 'Shivo' channel.

Why can't conservatives let go of a topic? I mean, I just want to know how many Americans died in Iraq today, GEEZ! ;)

I don't really see how that's a conservative trait. Any major news outlet worth their salt latches on to this stuff and rides lit like a lamprey because people want to hear about it, which pulls in viewers/readers/listeners, which increases revenue. Granted FOX News is a conservative network but it's not like you're going to see different headlines if you flip over to CNN or MSNBC or anything.

Ahh. Now I understand. Everyone in the media suffers from obessive-compulsive disorders.

And I'm surprised that I haven't seen a channel's website with an up-to-the-minute accurate counter of the number of American shoulders that have died in Iraq. I'm sure there's one out there, though.
